to cleanse the blood

Before lunch today the dad of the family I'm living with came up to me with this cup full of green weed looking things and said, "Drink this, it's to cleanse the blood. We do this on August 1st." So, I took a swig of this stuff and suddenly realized, "Wow, I think I'm taking a shot of vodka". And then he told me to take another...I like when people celebrate everything.
